What makes a millionaire?

A comment by Craig Newmark reminds me of a couple of people from my home town.

A friend of my girlfriend's father owned a junk yard. He had 20 acres of old cars. He figured that all together the cars had at least a million parts and that each part was worth at least a dollar. So he figured that made him a millionaire. I wouldn't think he would be very liquid, though.

The other guy was some sort of businessman. I forget just what he did; he was a friend of my mom's. He said that he must be a millionaire because he owed a million dollars to the bank. That meant he owned a million dollars worth of stuff.
