School principals are among the dumbest people on the face of the earth

From the New York Times:

On Thursday [Tiffany Schley] used her valedictory address, during the school's graduation ceremony, to highlight problems at the school like overcrowding, ineffective teaching and high turnover of principals.

When Ms. Schley returned to school on Friday to get her diploma, along with other graduates, she was denied it.

...

Initially, a spokesman for the Department of Education was quoted as saying that Ms. Schley owed her classmates and their parents an apology. "Our information was that her farewell address did not receive universal support" from the audience of other students and their parents, said the spokesman, Stephen Morello, in an e-mail message yesterday.

I didn't realize that was a requirement for graduation.

Anyway, the principal recovered from his rectal-cranial inversion and Ms. Schley is getting her sheepskin.

UPDATE: Joanne Jacobs has more.

Yes, yes, I'm sure that the district's lawyers corrected the principal's error on US law, but the real burning question is whether Miss Schley got an apology.

After all, the principal owed her one.

If Miss Schley's educational experience was so terrible, how the hell did she become valedictorian? She must be a supporter of Kerry-Edwards - blame everyone else for your problems.
